IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO OUR CUSTOMERS REGARDING THE HOME DEPOT INFORMATION SECURITY BREACH

Dear Valued Customer,
Herring Bank takes protecting your account very seriously. The Bank is proactively taking action to protect your account(s).
The Bank has become aware that Home Depot has confirmed that their payment data systems have been breached for purchases/transactions made from April 1, 2014 on, which could adversely impact our Bank customers that used their debit cards at Home Depot store locations in the United States and Canada. Home Depot has indicated that the following payment card information has been compromised: Customer name, card number, expiration date, cardholder verification value (“CVV Code”) and the service code.
The Bank is proactively taking the following actions to protect your respective account:
-Identifying all customer’s potentially impacted by this payment data systems breach.
-For those customer’s that we have identified as potentially impacted, the Bank will be contacting you to discuss how your current card(s) will be replaced. Note: It is important to be aware that a Herring Bank team member will have pertinent account information that is not a part of the information that was compromised. A Herring Bank team member will attempt to validate/confirm your identity by asking you questions that relate to information that the Bank has on file. The Bank will not ask you for account numbers and/or other information that is related to the compromised information. If at any time you become uncomfortable with answering the questions, you may contact your local branch or call the phone number listed on the back of your debit card for information and assistance in replacing your card(s).
-The Bank has implemented fraud monitoring systems to identify potentially fraudulent account activity. If the Bank identifies fraudulent activity has occurred on your account, you will be immediately contacted by a Herring Bank team member and your debit card will be deactivated.
-The Bank will be issuing new card(s) to you. Customer’s in the Herring Bank Rewards Program will have their Rewards points from the compromised card transferred to their new replacement card within 24 hours.
The actions to be taken to receive a replacement card vary depending on the type of debit card you have, as follows:
“Flat” Debit Cards ( a card with no raised numbers and/or letters): If you have a Flat Debit Card, you will need to go to your local branch as soon as possible and no later than within two weeks from notification to receive a new debit card. Your compromised debit card will be deactivated after two weeks of notification and will not work. Deactivating your compromised debit card is in your interest to protect your account.
“Embossed” Debit Cards (a card that has raised numbers and/or letters): If you have an embossed debit card, the Bank will automatically replace/order a new debit card(s) for you. You should receive your new card(s) within 3-6 weeks of notification. We strongly recommend that you immediately replace your compromised current debit card with a temporary instant issue card that can be obtained through your local Herring Bank branch, as a way to further protect your account until you receive your new embossed debit card. Your compromised debit card will be deactivated by the Bank when you activate your new debit card, to ensure your account is protected.
What Can You Do to Protect Your Account
The Bank encourages you to monitor your account regularly for unauthorized activity. In addition, the Bank strongly encourages you to sign up for debit card email alerts on your account. These debit card email alerts will provide you immediate information as to debit card activity that is occurring or that has just occurred on your account. These alerts are a proactive tool to utilize in ensuring the prevention of unauthorized debit card activity on your account.
Report any suspected unauthorized account activity to your local Herring Bank branch or the Bank’s Customer Service Center at 1-866-348-3435.
You may come into your local Herring Bank branch and receive an immediate instant issue debit card to replace your compromised card.
You may be entitled to obtain a free credit report from one of the following credit reporting agencies: Transunion 1-800-680-7289, Experian 1-888-397-3742, or Equifax 1-800-525-6285.
As a further reminder, you will have to change preauthorized payments/transfers you may have been utilizing on this compromised card number to your new replacement debit card number.
